A Couple of Swap Cards

Hello My Dear Stamping Friends,

I’m back!!!

I’m so sorry for the delay in posting.  We had a wonderful trip to Thailand—thanks to all of you, my wonderful downline members, and Stampin’ Up!   The trip was amazing and we’re so happy to have been there.  Jim wrote a great blog with lots of info and pictures.  You can see it at beltguy.com/blog.

The only downfall was that Jim got sick for a few days while we were there (it didn’t actually make us miss out on anything).  I got sick after we got home—I was sick for 7 days before we got test results telling us that I had salmonella.  I don’t want to have it again.

An update on our daughters:  Lisa had her third chemo session last week.  It was harder on her than the previous ones, but she’s doing pretty well now.  The doctor has asked her to use a cold cap before, during, and for 2 hours after her chemo sessions.  It’s supposed to prevent permanent hair loss.  It’s very painful and claustrophobic as it’s very tight and then is tied to her head with something that runs under her chin.  She has one more session to go and she’ll be finished with her treatments.  Then on November 3rd, she’ll have her final surgery.   I’ll be so glad when she’s finished.

Kelly had her port placed a couple of weeks ago and had her first round of chemo last week (she & Lisa actually had their chemo infusions at the same time at different locations).  Kelly’s doctor had been following a study and changed her infusion drug right before she began receiving it.  She’ll now have six rounds of a little bit less harsh chemo and will then have daily radiation treatments.  She’s teaching this year and plans to miss school only on the chemo session days.  Kelly tolerated her chemo pretty well.

Thankfully, Judy is breast cancer free.  She had a mammogram and then had to have a biopsy, but it came back clear.  We are praying that she stays cancer free.

This is really crazy, but I had my regularly scheduled mammogram a few weeks ago.  There had been a change so I had to have a diagnostic mammogram and an ultrasound.  I now have to have a biopsy on Wednesday.  The doctor was very reassuring that it will be benign.  I’ll be really glad when it’s over.

I hope you can make it to the stamp camp that I have scheduled for Friday, September 29th  and Saturday, September 30.  It will be here at my house and we’ll have our regular salad potluck.  You may bring any kind of salad ingredients or dessert.  We’ll get the lettuce, spinach, & rolls (and Jim will slice and butter them for you).

The fee is $45 and $35 for club members.  You'll make 10 cards.

I’m thinking this time we’ll do 3 Christmas cards, 2 or 3 masculine cards, and 5 or 6 all occasion cards.  What do you think of that?

For the next event, would you like to have a stamp camp or stamp a stack that is all Christmas cards?

I’ve actually been stamping a lot—I made 186 thank you note cards for Lisa & Kelly over the past few weeks.  I used our Whisper White & Very Vanilla note cards, added a layer of card stock, stamped on designer paper, and layered that onto the coordinating card stock.  They are really cute and really easy.  The girls love them and I’ve loved using my retired designer paper.

I’m going to start sharing the swaps that I received in Thailand with you.  Please let me know if you want the measurements, etc. and I’ll measure them for you.

The first card is one of my favorite swaps from the trip. It was created by  Alicia Graham.

The second card uses the new Embossing Paste and is mixed with copper embossing powder and then heat embossed.  It is beautiful and was created by Sue Lepako.

I hope you enjoy these swaps that I received.  I’m having so much fun with them.

Hugs to all of you, Pat

Colorful Seasons Green Leaves Card

Hello My Dear Stamping Friends,

I’m a little behind with this post.

We’re camping at Heaton Bay Campground near Dillon Reservoir.  We have granddaughter Molly with us; it’s so much fun to have her.

We went down early Monday morning for Lisa’s surgery and came back up Tuesday morning.  I just face-timed with her and that made me feel good.  She’s doing so well all things considered.

The card I’m showing you is the one that I’ll use for my Thailand trip swap.   It is so versatile as it has something for all seasons in it. I used two old techniques that we haven’t used in awhile:  the marbles technique and the baby wipes technique.

I don’t  seem to have my usual tools  with me so the directions won’t be quite as good this time.

Colorful Seasons Green Leaf Card

Colorful Seasons stamp set, p. 147, 143726, $27.

Garden Green card stock, p.185, 102584, $8 or assorted, 131192, $8.

     8 ½ x 5 ½”

     2” strips for punching

Whisper White card stock, p. 185, 100730, $9 or assorted, 131191, $8.

     5 ¼” x 4”  2 each

     2” strips for punching

Garden Green pad, p. 185, 126973, $6.50.

Garden Green reinker, p. 185, 102059, $3.75 or Regals reinkers, 131169, $32.

Pear Pizzazz reinker, p. 186, 131160, 3.75 or Subtles reinkers, 131170, $32.

Burlap ribbon, p. 198, 141487, $7; or 3/8” Garden Green 3/8” stitched satin ribbon, $8.  The Garden Green ribbon is a little bit easier to work with.

Pretty Label punch, p. 207, 143715, $18.

Gold Faceted Gems, p. 197, 144141, $5.

The marble technique is what I used for the background.  I put a few drops of Pear Pizzazz reinker (maybe 5) into a wood stamp case (they’re available but not in catalog) and dropped in 3 marbles.  I ran the marbles through the ink until I thought the marbles were coated.  I then put a little piece of snail on the back of my white cs and taped it to the lid of the case.  Then I closed the case and ran the marbles over that.  Then I repeated with another case and Garden Green reinker.

To stamp the leaf bases, I put several drops of each of the above colors onto a baby wipe and that became my stamp pad.  (The colors bleed together on the baby wipe.)

I then stamped the leaf outline over the large leaves with Garden Green ink.

For the greeting, I punched one label from the Whisper White and two from the Garden green.  I then “surrounded” the white label with two green labels.  Then I attached it with dimensionals.

This will be a beautiful card using Fall colors, too.  For this one, I wanted Spring/Summer.

If  you want to shop, please use this host code:  KJGXGPVS.   You may use this link:

SHOP NOW  .

Enjoy this card; it’s really fun to use these old techniques again.

Please let me know if you have any questions; I love to talk stamping.

Hugs, Pat

Hello My Dear Stamping Friends,

I need to apologize as I’m a little late in posting this.  Yesterday was my birthday and we were celebrating all day.  We had a great day!

Today I have one of the cards that we did at our BOGO event on Friday.  It used the new Colorful Seasons bundle along with its matching Colorful Theory designer paper. I love this set as it has year-round images.

Lift Me Up stamp set, p. 58, wood 142893, $29; clear 142896, $21.

Flourishing Phrases, p. 24, wood 141531, $49; clear 141534, $37—for that cute little “Hello”.

     8 ½ x 5 ½”

     4 ¾” x 2 ¾”

Basic Black card stock, p.185, 121045, $8, or assorted 131191, $8.

     5” x 3 ¾”

     3 ½” x 2 ¾”

Whisper White card stock, p. 185, 100730, $9; or assorted 131191, $8.

     5 ¼” x 4”

     1 inch strip for clouds

Daffodil Delight card stock, p. 186,  119683, $8; or assorted 131190, $8.

     1” strip

Bermuda Bay card stock, p. 186, 131197, $8; or assorted 131190,$8.

     2” strip

Pool Party pad, p. 186, 126982, $6.50.

Black Momento pad, p. 200, 132708, $6.

Smoky Slate pad, p. 185, 131179, $6.50.

Stampin’ Sponges, p. 200, 141337, $3.50.

Dimensionals, p. 203, 104430, $4.

Scotch tape

Big Shot. p. 209, 143263, $110.

Up & Away Thinlits, p. 216, 142748, $30.

Seaside Embossing Folder, p. 210, 141481, $8.50.

A couple of tips for this card:  the Scotch tape is used to hold the balloon pieces together before you attach them to the black balloon itself.  We turned the balloon colored pieces backwards, assembled them and then put a piece of tape on their back side to hold them together.

Also, the clouds are sponged on the edges with Smoky Slate ink. The only piece that has a dimensional under it is the Hello cloud.

Enjoy this card.  It’s fun to do with all of the bright colors.

If you want to place an order, please this host code KJGXGPVS.  If your order is over $150, please don’t use the host code so that you can reap the host rewards for yourself.

Adorable Note Cards

Hello My Dear Stamping Friends,

I think Summer might actually be on its way.

I have a couple of things to tell you today.  May 31 is the last day for you to order from the current regular catalog and the Occasions mini catalog.  Please don’t miss out on something that you’re wanting from either of those catalogs.  Once they’re gone, they are gone for good.

The second thing that I want to tell you about is something that’s been in our catalog for several years.  I’ve only used them a little bit in the past, but I’m now in love with them.  They are the Whisper White Note Cards shown on page 195 of the new catalog.  There are 20 cards & envelopes in a package for $6.  And, Very Vanilla Note Cards are also available in the new catalog.  (The white ones are still available in the current catalog.)  Each card is 5” x 3 ½”.

I’ve been making lots of them as thank you notes using the Delightful Daisy designer paper on page 188 of the new catalog.  I’ll include pictures of some of the ones I’ve made, but I want to give you the measurements.  As mentioned above, the cards are already cut and scored for you.  The solid piece of card stock is 4 ¾” x 3 1/4”; the designer paper is 4 ½” x 3”.

For the envelope flap, I cut the designer paper 6” x 2”.  I then put quite a bit of snail on the envelope flap (outside) and a tiny strip of snail in the middle of the back of the designer paper and attach the two.  Then I just trim around it.  They are so cute.

If you place an order before the end of May, please use this hostess code:  2G3HBFMW    SHOP NOW     I’ll  start another hostess code for June.

If your order is $150 0r more, please don’t use the host code so that you can collect the host rewards for yourself.

Here are pictures of some of the note cards I’ve made.

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs to each of you, Pat

Fresh Fruit Peach Card

Hello My Dear Stamping Friends,

Before I show you today’s card, I want to be sure that you can see how to navigate this site.

There’s a narrow bar (reddish or purplish) under the picture of the card spread.  It’s fairly narrow and kind of hard to see as it’s fairly small.  (Jim has tried to change the bar, but hasn’t been successful yet.)  Anyway, when you move your cursor across that bar, you’ll see the different things you can click on.

If you want to be notified whenever I create a new post, you can fill in your email address in a box on the right side.

Okay now for today’s card.  I love this card, set, and designer paper.  When I first saw the set, I wasn’t really interested, but now I love it.  The set and designer paper are retiring, but they’re still available at the moment.
